About Dawn

Dawn Mauricio at Yoga Mala 2011

After discovering meditation in Northern Thailand and combining it with her yoga practice, Dawn was hooked on the spiritual path. Soon after she gave up her Public Relations job to become a yoga teacher. Teaching full-time since 2006, Dawn’s style has evolved into a playful and dynamic approach that draws from her experiences in Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Kripalu Yoga, as well as Mindfulness Meditation.

Dawn has completed over 1,000 hours of trainings and continues to sit regular silent meditation retreats. Since 2007 she fervently pursued raising awareness and funds for different Montreal charities through the annual Yoga Mala fundraiser, raising close to $25,000 in just a few years. More recently, Dawn founded the Yoga Mala Foundation, a non-profit organization that unites the Montreal yoga community in an effort to support inspired yoga teachers to create and sustain yoga programs in their communities that are in need of affordable and/or charitable health programs.
